Product Overview

Swamp Excavator

An amphibious excavator, also known as a swamp buggy or a marsh buggy, is a type of excavator specially designed to maneuver through marshes, swamps, soft terrain, and shallow waters. This is possible because of their unique pontoon construction and hydraulic system. It brings together the land-based functionalities of a traditional excavator with the versatility of a boat, making it a dynamic tool for various industries.

Advantage

The advantages of amphibious excavators include their versatility to transition seamlessly between land and water, their minimal ecological impact, and their operational stability due to floating pontoons and adjustable buoyancy systems. They are also cost-effective as they can reduce the need for additional equipment like barges. The modular design allows for easy disassembly and transport to remote or challenging locations.

Primary Applications
  • Dredging & Waterway Maintenance: Removing silt and debris from rivers, canals, and lakes to prevent flooding.
  • Environmental Restoration: Restoring wetlands, managing aquatic vegetation, and creating wildlife habitats.
  • Infrastructure & Utilities: Installing pipelines and cables in swampy or intertidal zones.
  • Disaster Recovery: Clearing debris in flooded zones where land access is cut off.
Amphibious Excavator Working
Technical Highlights
Durable Hydraulic Undercarriage Pontoons

The hydraulic undercarriage pontoons are extremely important to an amphibious excavator. With abundant experience in manufacturing pontoons that last, we design and produce equipment specifically for working areas covering swamps, salty land, off-shore, and river areas.

Well Protected Hydraulics

Hydraulic hoses are well protected by the full sealed container which minimize the possibility of damage to these parts when working in swamp or water areas.

Three-Piece Welding

The pontoons are welded with a three-piece steel sheet structure. Two bent steel plates are connected on the top, eliminating long welding seams and making the whole pontoon more durable and neater.

Heavy Duty Chain Link

Comes with steel track cleats designed to resist wear and distortion. The track plates use wear-proof steel with extra toughness and a special stud plate structure to support the pontoons and upper excavator.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the primary purpose of an amphibious excavator?
It is specifically designed for working in soft terrains like swamps, marshes, and shallow waters where standard crawlers would sink.
How do the pontoons prevent the machine from sinking?
The large, hollow pontoons provide buoyancy and distribute the machine's weight over a wide area, resulting in extremely low ground pressure.
Can these excavators work in saltwater environments?
Yes, the pontoons can be specially designed for salty and off-shore conditions using corrosion-resistant materials and coatings.
What kind of engine powers this equipment?
The machines are typically equipped with high-performance Cummins or Doosan engines, providing reliable power for demanding dredging tasks.
Is the hydraulic system protected from water ingress?
Yes, the hydraulic hoses and components are housed within fully sealed containers to minimize damage and prevent contamination while working in water.
Are the tracks durable enough for rocky swamp bottoms?
The track cleats are made of wear-proof steel with a special stud structure to handle distortion and provide traction on various soft surfaces.
